The Brief
NJD was contracted by ‘Strass Landscape Developers’ to create this stunning outdoor space for a professional couple with family time in mind. One of the challenges was to rescue a subsiding pool, which was to be stabilised in a way that disguised the engineering required, was aesthetically pleasing and in keeping with the design.
The Solution
The engineer’s requirement involved constructing a significant retaining system alongside the pool. This is cleverly concealed by new screens of framed weatherboard and lightweight monolithic cladding.
The Result
The pool has been fully refurbished.
Weathered to silver decking timber is ‘Purple Heart’.
Powder-coated steel pool fencing completes the safety requirements with a safety glass panel beside the outdoor dining space.
Large stepping stone paved areas are used to break up the heaviness of expansive paving, with interplanted grasses to soften the look.
A new ‘fescue’ lawn and gardens completes the space, with planting along the boundary that will eventually provide secluded privacy.
